Fincher – like Ridley Scott – is a consummate stylist who doesn’t know how to make an ugly movie. He’s never really managed to get himself a franchise going. "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" looked icy but had one of those plots that was more suited to TV. But he did get a good performance out of Daniel Craig, and given the experience of the somnambulism of "Spectre", our boy needs some geeing up.
