NEW DELHI – Sidharth Malhotra and Manoj Bajpayee’s crime thriller Aiyaary has witnessed a super response at the box office, having collected over 12 crores on day 4. The plot of the crime thriller revolves around an Indian Army officer, who is compelled to chase down his protégé when the latter turns rogue and threatens to disrupt the country’s government and army. Actress Pooja Chopra, who is seen in Aiyaary essaying the role of an Army Captain, has donated a substantial amount from her fee to a digital portal called Bharat Ke Veer which supports the families of the martyr solider.
While filming Aiyaary, Pooja spent a lot of time at the Border Security Force for her training. During her stay there, she spoke to the officers and their families. She was touched by the stories, struggles and short falls of the soldiers who protect the Indian borders. The men who gave their lives for the country left behind families who went through financial and emotional crisis. This pushed her to share part of her earnings with people from the Border Security Forces.
Upon returning from the shoot, Pooja spoke to a few people who introduced her to an organisation called Bharat Ke Veer, a website portal of Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. The portal enables one to donate directly to the martyr soldier’s account or to the organization’s corpus. The actress got in touch with them and immediately did her bit to help them. A screening of Aiyaary was held for the Ministry of Defence before its release on the censor board’s instruction.
The screening resulted in prescribed modifications to the film, following which Aiyaary received a U/A certificate and was allowed to be released nationally. Written and directed by Neeraj Pandey and produced by Shital Bhatia and Dhaval Gada, the film features Sidharth Malhotra, Manoj Bajpayee, Rakul Preet Singh, Pooja Chopra, Adil Hussain, Kumud Mishra, Naseeruddin Shah and Anupam Kher.
