Who is Maya Hawke? The answer is quite simple: Maya Hawke is the daughter of Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke and in Stranger Things 3 she will play Robin, an alternative girl who is equal parts sharp and playful. Bored with her mundane day job, she just wants a little excitement in her life and gets more than she bargained for when she uncovers a dark secret in Hawkins. Maya Thurman-Hawke was born on July 8, 1998 in New York and can currently be seen as the lead role of Jo March in the BBC and Masterpiece’s highly anticipated miniseries adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s classic novel Little Women, which premiered in the UK in December and will air on PBS in the USA in May. Maya stars opposite Angela Lansbury, Emily Watson and Michael Gambon, and won the role as her first professional acting job. Maya most recently wrapped shooting the independent film LadyWorld, directed by Amanda Kramer, and is attached to the lead role in Myna Joseph’s forthcoming feature film Charlotte XVI.
Maya’s parents Ethan Hawke with Uma Thurman met on the sci-fi classic Gattaca. They married in 1998 but split in 2003: “I have a great relationship with my parents, we’ve worked really hard to be close and be communicative. They’ve taught me so much, and continue to teach me every day. I have so much respect for their careers and their lives, and I’m very proud to be their daughter.” In 2018 she will be starring in new film Ladyworld, which involves eight teenage girls being trapped at a never-ending birthday party. Is a new star born?
